New Star Wars news!

   Hello,  Elite-Dude/WheresTheSniper here for some of you who don't know...  Recently... as in today, I have found some interesting information concerning the SWBFIII and SW: TOR(The old republic).  I thought I'd spread the news around the homefront because I know we have many SW freaks including myself.

EA executives dropped the news that BioWare's Star Wars MMORPG is expected to ship in fiscal 2011 in a conference call with investors. This puts the release in April at the earliest, and clarifies the original "Spring 2011" launch window.

CEO John Riccitiello noted that while the game will hopefully be a profitable venture, EA's cash flow is running slow right now. "MMOs can cost as much as two to six, seven times as much as a front-line title, if they’re done right.... It is a major investment for us."

The trailer that EA showed at last year's E3, while impressive, had a higher budget than many full-fledged games (no, I'm not exaggerating). Are all those truckloads of money going to result in the kind of game that we've been hoping for? Are you going to drop your current MMO, or take your first dip into the genre, when The Old Republic finally comes out?

     I don't know if that's good or bad news.  We know when it's coming out but it was a little later than I assumed.  Oh well, I'm sure many of you will be pleased to hear the next thing.

Star Wars: Battlefront

Last known Whereabouts:  Star Wars battlefront: Elite Squadron

The Company line: 

     Publisher Lucasarts declined to talk with us regarding the Star Wars: Battlefront franchise, but it's known the ex-studio Free Radical Design was working on Star Wars: Battlefront III when the developer closed its doors and later became Crytek UK.  Rumor has it that the console title was handed to Rebellion, who did the handheld title Elite Squadron, but there have been no details regarding Battlefront III since Free Radical's closure.

     Good.  Given Free Radical's attempt at a large-scale Battlefront title. it's clear that LucasArts wants to bring the serries to the home consoles.  The series' continues presence and popularity on handhelds is keeping the seat warm until then.
